The head of a decapitated dinosaur from the Museum of Life and Science has been found, according to the Durham Police Department.
Kammie Michael says the dinosaur head was found off Preston Andrews Road in northern Durham County and it appears it was taken as a prank.
The head has now been returned to the museum. Investigators are in talks with the museum to determine what action they wish to pursue against the perpetrators. As of now, no charges have been filed.
Michael adds that the head did not sustain any additional damage.
Residents of the Northgate Park neighborhood noticed the head was missing earlier this week.
The brontosaurus was built in 1967 as part of the old prehistoric animal trail exhibit.
