DURHAM, N.C. -

A Duke University police officer has been arrested and charged with raping an Alabama woman.

The Dothan Eagle reports Tuesday that 37-year-old Webster Delenn Simmons of Rougemont, N.C., is being held on $120,000 bond.

Houston County Sheriff Andy Hughes said Simmons was arrested Monday and charged with felony first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy.

Hughes said the 34-year-old victim and Simmons were at a local nightclub before the assault, which occurred inside Simmons' vehicle.

Detectives seized evidence including two pair of handcuffs, a ball gag, thick rope, an unknown power source with wires attached to a nail, along with a whip and flog.

Hughes said the victim was possibly drugged and woke up early Saturday morning, handcuffed and with a ball gag in her mouth.

Duke University Police Chief John Dailey said Simmons was suspended after the arrest.

To self-righteous 'SayWhat', you and I both know, when it comes to criminal prosecution of your brethren, lady justice is truly blind, if not intoxicated. Even if this aberrant x-cop, now Duke security guard gets active time, he'll be sent to a special correctional unit that is reserved for convicted cops and politicians, just like NC Dept of Correction has set up in Durham County (www.doc.state.nc.us/dop/prisons/durham.htm). Yes good tax payers of NC, your Dept of Correction has a special prison reserved for cops and politicians, which from penal standards is known as the infamous "country club" setting. 'SayWhat' laid out a challenge in disproving that the "vast majority" of his brethren are anything but honest, dedicated, etc. while one "[c]an't really say that about ex-cons, now can we?" In response, to this "vast majority" concept, from current articles concerning the release of NC inmates who have maxed out their sentences, it was quoted that 40% of inmates return to prison. Well, the "mass majority" of 60% do not. And as to the prejudicial and highly generalized statement that x-cons can not be trusted (especially compared to the angelic police that control everything perfectly), has 'SayWhat'ever heard of Australia? Its a formal penal colony for Britian, where the "mass majority" of its past and current population are or related to x-cons. Given half a chance, we x-cons do alright in running a country. Has 'SayWhat' ever compared the US to Australia, as in reported criminal behavior? Don't believe they are anywhere near our murder rate, nor the number of inmates incarcerated per capita ...oh ya, we, the US hold that distinction, way above Russia and China, and all of the other counties of the entire world too. And incidentally, whenever the "mass majority" of the population are law enforcement, this is known as a police state...know you long for these good old days of goose-stepping and hail to the Der Fuhrer.

There is no question that the actions of this officer are inexusable, and he should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. As a law enforcement officer, he is held to a higher standard and entrusted with protecting the public. For him to take advantage of that makes this crime even worse, in my opinion. However, it is unfortunate that situations like these cause people to question the integrity of all police officers and make sweeping generalizations about law enforcement as a whole. I challenge anyone to PROVE that the vast majority of law enforcement in this country is anything but honest, dedicated men and women, commited to making their communities a better, safer place. Can't really say that about ex-cons, now can we?

This behavior is the norm for police officers! http://willibys-corruptjustice.blogspot.com/2009/09/cops-that-sexually-offend-part-xix.html

Ahh, the thin line between cops and criminals has been exposed again. And like any good criminal, one should commit crimes outside ones contiguous state, such as here, in Alabama, so as to avoid any likelihood of judicial cooperation/sharing of information. Alas, this poor fellow was "actually" caught, thus mooting this possible edge. Oh woe onto you good people of this Country, for this action by this one want-a-be cop is not an aberration but the normal deviant (sexual) behavior of this select group, who see themselves not only above the Law, but use the Law to further their aberrant criminal behavior. To paraphrase, beware of sheep in wolf's clothing, and thank God for video cameras as it sheds light on this "Truth". If you only really knew....!
