DURHAM, N.C. -

More than two thousand people showed up to get the H1N1 vaccine at the Durham County Health Department's clinic Wednesday.

The county started with 1,300 doses of the injectable vaccine and 1,400 doses of the nasal mist for people in high-priority groups, including: pregnant women, caregivers for children under six months old, people aged six months to 24 years, people with chronic medical conditions, and healthcare workers.

People began lining up outside the National Guard Armory hours before the clinic opened at 10 a.m.

The county offered a free shuttle bus from the health department building downtown to the Armory for people in need of transportation.

Durham County plans to have another clinic aimed at the target groups next Wednesday, depending on supplies. The location has not yet been announced.
