After talking about it for almost a week, snow accumulated more in the southern part of Central North Carolina than in the northern part. The Triangle only received a trace while some parts of Moore, Lee, Harnett, Johnston, Wilson and Edgecombe counties go up Wednesday morning with 2 to 3 inches on the ground.
A strong upper level disturbance and surface low shifted south, which caused the change in snow totals area wide.
By the afternoon, the sun was out and wind speed was up. Gusts were in excess of 25 miles per hour, which made it feel like the 20s. Winds will calm down by Thursday morning, but temperatures fall all the way down to the teens.
The cold weather won't stick around for long as highs in the 60s are expected to return by this weekend.
