DURHAM, N.C. -

Fifth graders from public and private schools across Durham County will gather at West Point on the Eno tomorrow to learn about the environment.

The Durham Soil and Water Conservation District will be hosting the second day of the Durham County Environmental Field Days on Oct. 14 at the amphitheater at West Point on the Eno starting at 10 a.m.

Students will meet resource professionals from a variety of fields, participate in activities designed to compliment the fifth grade science curriculum and learn about the environment in a natural setting. The goal is for each student to leave with a better knowledge of the environment while having a good time.

The Durham Soil and Water Conservation District, in partnership with various County and City departments, have pulled together six presentations to present to the school groups. Participating agencies include; the N.C. Division of Soil and Water Conservation, City of Durham Dept of Water Management, City of Durham Dept of Stormwater Services, Durham County Dept of General Services, City of Durham Parks & Recreation, and the N.C. Division of Forest Services.
