In response to library customers' requests for information about the current financial crisis, Durham County Library has invited Campbell Harvey, Professor of International Business at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business, to speak Tuesday, October 14 at 7:15 p.m. at the Southwest branch library, 3605 Shannon Road. During his presentation, The Financial Crisis: Causes, Aftershocks and Next Steps, Professor Harvey will explain the origins of the current economic situation, discuss the implications for the US economy, and answer questions about this turbulent time. Free and open to the public. For more information, call 560-0268.
Professor Harvey's ideas have been featured in major media outlets including The Wall Street Journal, Fortune, Time, and The Washington Post. "We have put together this program quickly because many of our customers are anxious and confused about what is happening to the financial markets. We are fortunate to have a scholar like Professor Harvey who can help us make sense of these complex issues," said Marian Fragola, humanities coordinator.
Durham County Library provides the entire community with books, services and other resources that inform, inspire learning, cultivate understanding and excite the imagination. For more information, visit your local library or visit us online at www.durhamcountylibrary.org.
