The first Hispanic-owned Post Office facility will celebrate its Grand Opening on Saturday, October 18 with a special dedication of the new Latin Jazz postage stamp. The Opening, at the contract postal unit La Plaza Latina, will serve E. Durham and neighboring customers who prefer later-evening hours to handle postal business, as well as Spanish-speaking customers in the community at large. The occasion also marks the dedication of the new Latin Jazz stamp.
Durham Police Chief Jose Lopez, Sr, Durham Fire Chief Bruce Pagan, and other civic and community leaders will join Tom Pollard, Acting Postmaster, Durham Post Office; Lourdes Estronza, Station Manager, East Durham PO, sister station to La Plaza Latina, and other postal officials in this community celebration.
The post office is located in the La Plaza Latina at 3801 Wake Forest Road.
An open house will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The ribbon-cutting will be at noon.
The La Plaza Latina Post Office is now open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day except Tuesday (closed), and including weekends.
