RALEIGH, N.C. -

Are you an executive who has recently relocated? If so, you'll want to better understand the Raleigh/Wake County business community and why Raleigh is the No. 1 Place for Business and Careers (Forbes).

The Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce will offer a one-of-a-kind opportunity for business professionals who are new to the community on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008.

Executive Orientation is a one-day program that enables newcomers to learn quickly what issues make our community tick and challenges them to take an active leadership role. Participants will also learn how these issues will impact how they do business here.

"New executives will find this session worthwhile both personally and professionally. I gained valuable insight into the future of downtown, business growth in the region and other key issues that I could share with other newcomers at my company," said Dick Bugg of Fidelity Investments.

The program is presented by a veritable who's who of Raleigh and Wake County insiders. Speakers are outstanding leaders in their fields who influence decisions made in the community.

Topics to be discussed include: health services, economic development, local government, transportation, downtown Raleigh revitalization, and the Wake County Public School System.

Executive Orientation also gives participants an opportunity to build their business network, especially with other relocated executives or employees who are new to the area.

The Dec. 4 Executive Orientation program will run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Greater Raleigh Chamber, 800 S. Salisbury St., Raleigh. The cost to attend is $190 per employee of member firms and $250 per non-member

You can register for Executive Orientation online at www.raleighchamber.org. For more information, contact Greg McNamara at 919.664.7082 or gmcnamara@raleighchamber.org.
