Students could soon be paying more to go to North Carolina Central University.
On Wednesday morning, NCCU's board of trustees voted for a tuition increase. The increase would be the first in two years.
The board's recommendations call for a three percent increase to tuition over the summer term along with increased fees.
A 3.1 percent increase would come by fall, and graduate students would pay 6.5 percent more if the policy gets approved.
"The impetus really comes from one... what are our goals, and objectives in the context of our mission," said NCCU chancellor Charlie Nelms.
But not all of NCCU's trustees agreed with the move.
"There are other resources from which we can obtain those funds, and that is the responsibility of the State of North Carolina," said NCCU trustee Eric Micheux citing Article 1 of the state constitution.
According to NCCU's finance office, the board's recommendations will go to the UNC system's Board of Governors for final approval.
A final decision could come by the end of the year.

That's a small investment in our university. Because we want to have those resources for our students so they can be competitive in the world. mexico tours

I'm sure there are different programs they could take money from.I think there's a lot of wasted money on campuses. mexico tours
