On Thursday evening, the director of Durham County's board of elections publicly thanked the Durham school board for using DPS facilities during the November elections.
"The reason I'm here tonight is to thank all of you," said director Mike Ashe. "We could not have done it without your help," Ashe added.
According to the director, Durham's elections office used at least 23 Durham schools as precincts used for voting.
Two other locations, including Forest View Elementary School were used for One Stop voting.
At those locations, Ashe said, "we took over for almost a month."
"We could not conduct election activities without your full support," Ashe added.
