DURHAM, N.C. -

For three days, gas prices at the Food Mart at the corner of Washington Street and Trinity Avenue were at rock bottom prices.

The pumps are dry now but for $1.55, customers got regular or premium grades, but the low wasn't driven by supply and demand.

The manager of the Durham Food Mart tells NBC17 he's been ordered to take his business elsewhere, since the landlord of the property did not renew the store's lease.

The manager says the low gas prices were a quick way to get rid of the store's gas reserves.

The owner of the property says he decided not to renew the Food Mart's lease because he was not satisfied with the cleanliness of the store, and the store's overall environment. He says he has been fighting since February to have the current tenants leave.

The owner says he expects the store will be vacated by the end of the month. He says he'll have the store cleaned, and back open within days under new management.
