CARY, N.C. -

After a record summer, Hollywood released eight movies on the same day millions of people received Christmas cash and had nothing to do with it.

"Well it's sort of a family tradition," said Judy Woods.

Hundreds of people came to the Crossroads 20 movie theater to see what Hollywood had to offer during its last run in 2008.

"Doubt," "Seven Pounds," "The Tale of Despereaux," "Bedtime Stories," "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," "The Spirit," "Valkyrie" and "Marley and Me" each attracted niche audiences to the theater.

"It's a nice time to just get out instead of staying at home and eating and eating and eating," Sandra Evans, who went to see "Seven Pounds," said.

By far, the two most popular movies at Crossroads on Christmas afternoon were "Marley and Me" and "Valkyrie." Those were the only two to sell out in their beginning shows.

"My sister has a dog named Marley and she is crazy so it's just very fitting that we see it," Ashley Sherrow said.

Everyone who left the theater seemed to enjoy their particular movie choice, making Christmas at the movies the perfect present.
