CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -

The Chapel Hill Town Council will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in Town Hall, 405 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

The agenda includes the following:

  • Report on Culbreth Park Program: The Council will consider establishment of a maintenance assistance program for the Culbreth Park Homeownership Program. The program would address maintenance for eight original homebuyers living in Culbreth Park with second mortgages from the Town. Under the proposal, the Town would submit an application for Orange County Affordable Housing Bond funds to assist three income-eligible homeowners.
  • OWASA Discussions and Water Conservation: Orange Water and Sewer Authority representatives are expected to discuss plans toward eliminating off-site odors at the Mason Farm Road Wastewater Treatment Plant. In addition, the Council will consider general support for interlocal water conservation strategies and to direct staff to work collaboratively with the Town of Carrboro, Orange County and OWASA on conservation initiatives. Recommended actions include that OWASA should develop specific standards and enact requirements for all new development to provide water use efficiency plans and to install water saving fixtures and devices. Another longer-term action recommends that the Towns and County should enact requirements for new development projects to connect to OWASA's reclaimed water system when such service is available.
  • Guiding Development at Carolina North: The Council will consider a report that provides a status of recent discussions between Town and University staff concerning a possible Town process and schedule for guiding the development of the portion of the Carolina North property located within Chapel Hill. The Council is scheduled to receive a report on June 25 that will propose a process for guiding the development of Carolina North.
  • South Grove Planned Development: The Council will consider a development application from Oldham Associates for approval of a 26-lot development on the east side of U.S. Highway 15-501 south of the Southern Community Park and outside the Town's Urban Services boundary.
  • Woodmont on NC 54: The Council will continue its discussion of the Woodmont development application and decide on a date for continuation of public hearings.

Public attendance is welcome. Council meetings are cablecast on Chapel Hill TV18, the cable government access channel and via streaming video at http://www.townofchapelhill.org (see link to "Council Meeting Video.")
