The anticipated snow created a blizzard of shoppers for some local merchants in the Raleigh area.
At Larry's Supermarket on Milburnie Street in Raleigh, owner Kevin Zieverink said "about 2 o'clock it started picking up." By late afternoon, he said it was crazy in the store with milk, bread and eggs flying off the shelf.
At Seaboard ACE Hardware in Raleigh, owner Bob King watched his snow related item evaporate like a snowball in July.
Snow shovels, ice melt, and even sleds disappared after the word snow was placed in the forecast..
King said, " we put all the snow related items at the front of the store, so people could find them without walking all over the store."
