The Triangle’s oldest brewery turns 14 this month. Carolina Brewery will celebrate its 14th anniversary on Friday February 13th with the introduction of a special limited edition Anniversary Ale, a free commemorative pint glass giveaway and live music from Birds & Arrows and Sweet By & By at its Chapel Hill brewery location. The first 500 customers who purchase a pint of beer that day will also receive a free commemorative pint glass. “We feel very fortunate to celebrate this milestone during these challenging economic times,” says Carolina Brewery owner/operator Robert Poitras.“ Our staff, customers and business associates have been a part of our family for all 14 years and we would not be here today if it wasn't for so many wonderful supporters. We have been truly blessed to work with so many great people."Carolina Brewery’s yearly anniversary celebration is a tradition in Chapel Hill, where the Anniversary Ale and Pint Glass promotion are eagerly anticipated by both beer fanatics and Brewery regulars. “Brewed in the Belgian Wit Bier style, Anniversary Ale is light and refreshing with minimum hop bitterness,” says Brewmaster Jon Connolly. “By using traditional European malts and Belgian yeast, this beer has its own unique aromatic qualities. Since much of its flavor and color is derived from the authentic yeast strain, it is filtered gently to prevent the delicate flavors from being stripped away. As is customary in the Wit Bier style, a touch of dried orange, cumin and coriander are added to the boil to enhance the flavor. This beautiful white beer is topped off with a slice of fresh orange before serving.”Carolina Brewery is located at 460 West Franklin Street in Downtown Chapel Hill.
