Gov. Beverly Perdue's office says the latest list of potential North Carolina budget cuts includes some that weren't suggested by the agencies themselves.
Perdue spokeswoman Chrissy Pearson said Thursday that some spending option reductions for the next two years released Wednesday came from Perdue's budget office as well. Pearson earlier said the suggestions came from the agencies.
The change came after the state Labor Department complained it never offered a provision to eliminate its $1.8 million apprentice training program. Labor Department spokeswoman Dolores Quesenberry said the agency only offered to eliminate one position from the program.
Pearson said she wasn't trying to mislead anyone about the source of the budget cut options.
