RALEIGH, N.C. -

The SPCA of Wake County is teaming up with Resources for Seniors to help seniors and people with disabilities keep their pets.

AniMeals will deliver dog and cat food to Resources for Seniors clients.

Organizers of the program said that they know of many situations where folks are having to chose between feeding their pets and buying their own medication.

And now they're doing what they can to make sure seniors can keep their pets.

"These animals are family, they really are, and they're a healthy thing for these seniors, if you hold something like this you feel better, I promise," said Hope Hancock, SPCA of Wake County Executive Director
