An accident Tuesday in Wake County knocked out power to nearby homes and businesses as well as closed a major triangle roadway for several hours.
The accident happed around noon Tuesday in the 9600 block of US 401 South near the campus of Wake Tech. Highway patrol says a pickup truck hit a power pole breaking the pole in half and knocking power lines into the middle of the highway.
Police say there were only minor injuries. Wake Tech officials originally cancelled classes until 5 p.m. but when power was restored around 1:30, classes resumed as normal. The lines were repaired late in afternoon.
