A Harnett County Deputy was driving the speed limit when his car crashed into a tree, according to a report released Thursday by the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
The NC Highway patrol estimated that Deputy Danny Jackson speed at 55 miles per hour -- the posted speed limit -- at the time of the incident.
The report stated that Jackson was traveling on state road 1129 (McDougld Road) on March 13 when he lost control on wet pavement and traveled left striking a large tree. There was no traffic violations.
Jackson was transported by Benhaven Emergency Service to Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford. He then was transferred to U. N. C. Hospital in Chapel Hill.
There was rain in the area at the time of the accident.
