RALEIGH, N.C. -

Almost 50 miles of Johnston County highway will be under construction starting March 31.

Resurfacing work will include two sections of U.S. 70 and one section each of U.S. 301, N.C. 27, N.C. 50, N.C. 210 and N.C. 231.

In addition, 36 sections of secondary roads will receive resurfacing as well.

The North Carolina Board of Transportation awarded S.T. Wooten Corp. of Wilson the $3.4 million contract.

Resurfacing is scheduled for completion by Dec. 1.

This is just a part of $54 million awarded to the state.
