A passenger train has plowed into a car carrier stuck on a railroad crossing, but authorities say only a few minor injuries were reported.
Officials told The Charlotte Observer that the Amtrak train had just left Charlotte around 5:30 p.m. Friday on its way to Raleigh when it hit the hauler carrying Mercedes-Benz vehicles.
Authorities say the truck got stuck on the tracks. The driver escaped, but the train couldn't stop in time.
Officials say 104 people were on board the train. A few went to the hospital with minor injuries, while the rest were taken by bus to their destinations.
