DURHAM, N.C. -

Many consider healthcare a major problem nationwide, and Durham is no exception. Tonight The Partnership for a Healthier Durham is helping residents who are facing a health coverage crisis. The community forum will take place at First Presbyterian Church downtown.

The forum is in conjunction with "Cover the Uninsured" week, a national awareness project sponsored by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. To learn more click here.

According to the Durham County Health Department, the percentage of adults and children without healthcare is rising. In 2007, the percentage of uninsured adults and children rose to 26 percent from 12.5 percent in 2001.

The partnership for a Healthier Durham says innovation and cooperation will decrease the number of uninsured. The organization is hoping to highlight existing programs and steer people toward new initiatives in Durham.
