A tornado watch issued this morning for parts of the viewing area has been cancelled by the National Weather Service.
North Carolina counties originally under the tornado watch include:
Cumberland; Edgecombe; Franklin; Halifax; Harnett; Hoke; Johnston; Nash; Northampton; Sampson; Scotland; Wake; Warren; Wayne; Wilson.
Tornado warnings were issued throughout the morning for Northampton, Edgecombe, Nash and Halifax counties. No reports of damage have been reported in those areas.
Forecasters say severe storms are possible in eastern North Carolina, while the mountains are preparing for a late season snowstorm.
The National Weather Service says severe storms could from ahead of a cold front Monday morning and afternoon in areas of the state east of Interstate 95.
That same cold front will likely bring snow to the mountains.
Forecasters say moisture will begin moving in Monday afternoon, and up to 4 inches of snow could fall in higher elevations west of Asheville. A winter storm warning has been issued.
The front will bring much colder weather to everyone. The weather service says an April freeze is possible Tuesday night across all of North Carolina.
