Featuring Excerpts from "What It Means to Be a Southern Grandmother"
CARY, N.C. - It's been said that every time a child is born, so is a grandmother! While every grandmother is special, perhaps no grandmother is as colorful, well-mannered and hospitable as a southern grandmother.
SearStone, a distinctively different continuing care retirement community in Cary, is pleased to present a book reading by noted author and etiquette expert Cecilia Budd Grimes on Thursday, June 18 at 2 p.m. at the Page Walker Arts & History Center. Grimes will be reading excerpts from her latest book, "What It Means to Be a Southern Grandmother," and light refreshments will be served. The Page Walker Center is located at 119 Ambassador Loop on Cary's Town Hall Campus.
This latest book, the sixth in her "What It Means to Be Southern" series, takes readers on a fun romp through grandmotherly things such as teaching southern hospitality and inspiring a generous heart; adorable things children say; and colorful southern expressions like "no spring chicken," which grandmothers may use when referring to themselves, but others best not.
Called "North Carolina's resident etiquette expert" by Our State magazine, Grimes is president of Etiquette Matters, which was founded in 1993. In addition to teaching etiquette at companies and universities across the country, she is a popular author and public speaker.
"SearStone is extremely pleased to present Cecilia Budd Grimes's return appearance in Cary," said Laura Lowe, SearStone's director of sales and marketing. "Her previous book reading with us was so successful, we just had to bring her back. This is a very popular event, so I encourage prospective attendees to RSVP early."
To RSVP for this event, please call (919) 466-9366 or e-mail info@searstone.com. SearStone staff will host tours of the Model Home and Sales Center, located at 106 Walker Stone Drive in Cary, before and after the event. For more information about the SearStone community, visit www.searstone.com.
