Walmart is hiring about 350 people to work at the new store slated to open this summer in Garner. 

A temporary hiring center is now open at 21 Anna Drive, Suites 105 and 106 in Clayton.

The hiring center began accepting applications Monday and will continue accepting applications from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday, Wednesday, Friday; 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

According to Store Manager Danny Davis, the store will be hiring both full- and part-time associates.

"We are excited to add this Walmart to Garner and bring good jobs with career opportunities to the area," he said. Davis began his Walmart career in 1998 as a hourly associate in the meat department in Greenville, NC.

Davis said associates are needed to work in all areas of the new store, including supervisory positions.

Wal-Mart benefits - available to eligible full- and part-time associates - include healthcare insurance with no lifetime maximum. Wal-Mart also offers a 401(k) plan and profit sharing contributions, whether an eligible associate contributes or not, store discount cards, stock purchase program and life insurance. Additionally, associates are eligible for company performance-based bonuses.

The majority of associates will begin work in July to help prepare the store for its grand opening in the summer.
