"Kill me, shoot me; shoot me. You'll like it."
Orange County Deputy London Ivey testified Tuesday, saying that is what the accused gunman said to him when Ivey confronted him. Ivey was a School Resource officer at time of the shooting at Orange County High School.
Alvaro Rafael Castillo, 22, of Hillsborough has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to several charges, including first-degree murder.
Castillo was arrested in August 2006 after police said he opened fire at Orange High in Hillsborough. Shortly after his arrest, Castillo then told police he killed his father before coming to the school.
On Tuesday, Ivey said the accused gunman spoke about his father after the school shooting. The gunman said his father won't hurt anyone else again, Ivey testified.
"'I sacrificed him. He won't hurt anyone else again,'" Ivey quoted the gunman.
Two students also took the stand Tuesday, including Tiffany Utsman who was a senior when the shooting occurred. Utsman suffered a surface wound to the chest from one of the bullets.
"[I was] eating lunch with friends and out of the blue someone shot through window," said Utsman. "At first, I didn't know what it was. It hit me against my chest. It knocked me against the floor ... and several loud noises occurred after I was shot."
The trial is expected to last at least through this week.
