Hospice of Wake County will hold a 14-hour training class for new and prospective family support volunteers from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on October 24 and October 31 at the non-profit agency's Youngsville office, 60 Wheaton Ave, One Park Place Building, Suite 92 in Youngsville. This training will give volunteer candidates an informative overview of the hospice mission and philosophy and will equip them with the skills and confidence to visit patients in their homes, hospital, nursing home, or assisted living facility. Attendance does not obligate participants to continue as volunteers. During the course of the training, attendees can decide if patient care is the appropriate volunteer opportunity for them. Other opportunities exist for administrative support and fundraising volunteers, speakers bureau volunteers, grief companions, and puppeteers. For more information, including a complete list of volunteer positions, visit www.hospiceofwake.org or contact Anne Arndt, Manager of Volunteer Services with Hospice of Wake County, at 828-0890 or aarndt@hospiceofwake.org .
