Walmart is hiring approximately 425 associates to work at the new Walmart slated to open this fall in Apex. To facilitate applications, the retailer has opened a temporary hiring center.
The hiring center began accepting applications Monday, August 3 and will continue accepting applications from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. Monday – Friday, and 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday.
According to store manager Teresa Drake, the store will be hiring both full- and part-time associates. “We are excited to add this Walmart to Apex and bring good jobs with career opportunities to the area,” she said. Drake began her Walmart career in 1989 as an hourly supervisor.
Drake said associates are needed to work in all areas of the new store, including supervisory positions.
Wal-Mart benefits* – available to eligible full- and part-time associates – include healthcare insurance with no lifetime maximum. Wal-Mart also offers a 401(k) plan and profit sharing contributions, whether an eligible associate contributes or not, store discount cards, stock purchase program and life insurance. Additionally, associates are eligible for company performance-based bonuses.
The majority of associates will begin work in September to help prepare the store for its grand opening in the fall.
Walmart announced in June that the company will create 22,000 jobs across the country in 2009, including store management positions, pharmacists, human resource managers, customer service associates, cashiers and sales associates among others.
