The City of Raleigh Solid Waste Services Department is partnering with Eco Lube to set up a mini-recycling drop-off center that will accept electronic items. The Eco Lube Service Station is located at 4901 Atlantic Avenue. This is the only recycling drop-off centers that will accept electronic items.
Eco Lube is a provider of environmentally friendly automotive services and has agreed to partner with the City in hosting a recycling drop-off center, including electronic items. As other City recycling centers are not staffed, it is not possible to collect electronic items since they must be monitored. Eco Lube staff will act as volunteers accepting electronic items from residents and placing them in the correct recycling containers.
In addition to the standard 14 materials the City has been collecting, the Eco Lube location will also accept any items with a cord. Examples include old computers, stereo equipment, small appliances, and TVs. Only residents (no businesses) are allowed to bring materials for recycling and must drop off items during Eco Lube's operating hours. Store hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. On Saturdays, the store is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Residents are asked not to leave items at the location outside of store hours as it can jeopardize the success of the program. If the program goes well, recycling of electronics may also be added to Eco Lube's location off Six Forks Road.
