Police Out For Booze It And Lose It Campaign

WAKE COUNTY, N.C. -

The Wake County Traffic Safety Task Force has announced checkpoints in conjunction with the 15th Anniversary of Booze It and Lose It, which runs from Aug. 21 - Sept. 7.

A ceremonial kick-off is scheduled for this Thursday, Aug. 20 at 11 a.m. at the RBC Center. The Wake County Traffic Safety Task Force will conduct DWI Checkpoints on all three Fridays of the campaign. The locations for checking stations are:

Garner - Friday, August 21, 2009
Wendell - Friday, August 28, 2009
Knightdale - Friday, September 4, 2009

The Wake County Traffic Safety Task Force has conducted thirteen (13) checkpoints since April 24, 2009. These checkpoints have resulted in 43 DWI arrests, 58 driving while license revoked charges, six (6) wanted persons taken into custody, and a total of 663 assorted charges. The Wake County Traffic Safety Task Force is comprised of representatives from the majority of the law enforcement agencies located in Wake County. The purpose of the task force is to afford agencies the opportunity to participate in campaigns, throughout the year, that focus on improving traffic safety in the county. These efforts will concentrate on DWI enforcement, speed enforcement, seat belt enforcement, and other traffic safety initiatives.
