The Orange County Red Cross will sponsor its first annual golf tournament, Tee It Up For The Orange County Red Cross, Saturday September 12 at Hillandale Golf Course in Durham. Check-in will begin at 8 am followed by a 9 am shotgun start. The cost is $60.00 per player (foursomes are encouraged), which includes green fees, cart, beverages, lunch, and awards. The format will be captain's choice. The deadline for the receipt of participant registration is September 1, 2009.

The Red Cross is primarily a volunteer organization guided by its mission of providing relief to victims of disasters by helping people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. The Red Cross is not a government agency. All Red Cross disaster emergency assistance of food, clothing, and shelter is free, and is made possible by the generous contributions of people's time, money, blood, and skills. Proceeds from this event will be used to provide disaster assistance to residents of Orange County, as well as to support the other Red Cross programs of health and safety training, emergency communication to service members and their families, and the sponsoring of local blood drives.
