FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Memorial golf tournament supports Ronald McDonald Houses in Chapel Hill and Durham

Aug. 31, 2009

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.—The 4th annual "Play for Emily" golf tournament will be held Monday, Sept. 21 at Landfall Country Club in Wilmington, N.C. The event is a memorial to Emily Ann Wade and a fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald Houses in Chapel Hill and Durham.

Emily Ann Wade was 5 years old when she passed away in 2006. Emily and her family called the Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill home during her 10-month battle with an inoperable brain tumor.

The "Play for Emily" tournament was originally organized to ease financial burdens on the Wade family during Emily's treatment. After her death in July 2006, Emily's family decided to continue the tournament, partnering with local McDonald's owner-operators to give back to the place that was there for them in their biggest time of need.

The tournament is a four-person captain's choice played on the Jack Nicklaus course at Landfall in Wilmington, N.C. Golfers receive a breakfast courtesy of McDonald's and beverages throughout the day. At the 19th hole after-party, lunch will be served and winners will be announced. For the sports fanatic, they will have the chance to bid on Duke and UNC memorabilia.

Corporate sponsorship opportunities for the tournament are also available. All contributions are tax deductible and go directly to the Ronald McDonald Houses in Chapel Hill and Durham.
