A school bus driver for Lee County schools was arrested Thursday morning for allegedly driving drunk during her morning route.
Broadway Police Chief Todd Hinnant said Bonnie Gilmore Sloan of Sanford has been charged with DWI, reckless driving to endanger, misdemeanor child abuse and two counts each of injury to personal property for knocking down two mailboxes.
Chief Hinnant said police received a call from a parent saying his stepson had called his wife saying his bus driver was driving erratic and he was scared. Twenty kids were on the bus at the time, police said. Sloan also hit two mailboxes while on her route.
Police said Sloan was stopped in her personal vehicle after dropping off the kids and the bus at school. Sloan was given field sobriety tests and failed them.
Sloan is also charged with hit and run and leaving the scene of property damage. She was released Thursday after posting a $10,000 secured bond.

You know the otherday my daughters bus was late and all i could do was panic.I called people i knew to see if there children was home i called the school i even called my daughters cell phone just to make sure she was ok.I dont want to hear the school officials complane about our kids having cell phones anymore untill they can montitor who they hire alot better than they have.

Ms Slush, You should be made to visit the children that will never live normal lives because of people like you. I also drive for Lee County.

Ms Bonnie your the reason i panic everyday when i put my children on there school bus.And its not fair to the buss drivers who do good to our children. I dont care if its your first offense or your last you need to spend some time in jail for the lives you could of taken.

ms sloan,if you have a jury trial,you best pray that i'm not on the panel.you're not just an idiot ,you're a untrust worthy,apparently un-caring one at best.
