The N.C. Department of Transportation will temporarily close a section of Old N.C. 98 from just east of Thompson Mill Road to N.C. 98 in Wake Forest beginning Monday, Sept. 21, at 5 a.m., weather permitting.
In addition, access to Old N.C. 98 from Jones Wynd Road will be closed.
Motorists traveling east on Old N.C. 98 should use the following signed detour:
- Old N.C. 98 to Thompson Mill Road to N.C. 98 back to Old N.C. 98.
Motorists traveling west on Old N.C. 98 should use the following signed detour:
- Old N.C. 98 to N.C. 98 to Thompson Mill Road back to Old N.C. 98.
The closure is necessary as a part of the project to widen the roadway and is expected to reopen in December.
