Dignity U Wear, the national nonprofit that provides brand new clothing to men, women and children in need will hold its first Dancing with Dignity Dance Party on Friday, October 2 at the North Hills Club in Raleigh. Proceeds from the evening will benefit TROSA, Oak Ranch, Durham Crisis Response Center, The Healing Place of Wake County, Durham Economic Resource Center and Dignity U Wear.
"The night is packed full of great fun including dance lessons, fabulous music and a wonderful silent auction," said David Workman, Dancing with Dignity's Dance Party chairman. "To end the evening by giving money raised to a myriad of area organizations who are in need is icing on the cake! We hope the community comes out to support this endeavor and to have a great time doing it."
To help raise funds for the aforementioned organizations, event registrants will pay a $25 entry fee and will pledge to raise $200 or more by the end of September. People can register on site at www.fistgiving.com. The user-friendly site allows easy tracking of individuals' pledges. General admission tickets are just $25 and may be purchased at the door.
The four-hour dance party, open to individuals age 21 and older, will feature a variety of dance music including swing and salsa throughout the night. To help get your toes tapping, demonstrators from Music and Dance Productions will provide dance lessons. Hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar will be offered.
In addition, a silent auction with a treasure chest of items will add to the funds raised to help the chosen organizations. Some of the auction items include $500 off a wedding package from John Martinez Photography; $270 value bartending package from Urbartender.com; and gift cards from Stonewood Tavern and Grill and Music and Dance Productions. Many more items will be added to the auction.
The evening begins at 7 p.m. with a cocktail hour, silent auction and dance lessons. At 8 p.m. the music begins and dancers will take to the floor. The evening will close at 11 p.m.
