APEX, N.C. -

The L'Hermitage Development on Olive Chapel Road has seen its share of thefts and even a fire in one of the abandon townhomes.

Currently, there are only two young families and a flock of geese that have made their homes in the multi-million dollar neighborhood.

Resident Aimee Bickers says it could be a beautiful area.

"It's not just an eye sore it's kind of sad. It looks like there's potential and it just sits," Bickers said.

Resident Melissa Henry said it's about time something is done.

"It would be great if someone could just buy it and get it looking better. It just doesn't look good," Henry said.

Officials with the GreenHawk Corporation in Raleigh said they are in the process of foreclosing on the development.

In a statement released today, the company said:
"At this time, we expect that process to be completed by October 9, 2009. If the foreclosure process results in the L'Hermitage development being owned by GreenHawk, we will evaluate our option and announce our plans....."

"It's a sense of elation that someone is finally going to do something," Bickers said.

In the meantime, the Apex town police have set up barricades and signs warning people to stay away. They also are patrolling the area to keep the property and families who live there safe.

The previous developers, Diversified Communities left the property in May of last year. Since then, the property was taken over by the bank. Just recently, the GreenHawk Corporation acquired the loan.

At this point, besides the police enforcement, the town is not involved with the foreclosure process. Town Manager Bruce Radford said they will get involved once GreenHawk Corporation comes to them with a plan.
