RALEIGH, N.C. -

The N.C. Department of Transportation wants your input for the proposed Interstate 40 widening project in Wake and Johnston counties.

The DOT will hold an informational workshop on Tuesday.

The meeting is from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Comfort Inn located at 126 Cleveland Crossing Drive (just off Exit 312) in Garner.

You're invited to drop in any time and speak individually with NCDOT officials and view project maps and plans.

NCDOT proposes to widen Interstate 40 between Exit 301 at the Raleigh Beltline interchange to Exit 312 (N.C 42). The purpose of the proposed project is to help reduce congestion along I-40. Additional public involvement will be conducted throughout the development of this project.

Right-of-way acquisition for this project is scheduled to begin in 2014, and construction is currently unfunded.

I think the DOT should also put money into completing the I540 beltline thru Old Stage Road as many of us out here in Southern Wake and Johnston County would be removed from I40 off I42.
