GARNER, NC (October 26, 2009)—On October 22nd, the fifth annual Garner Rotary Club's Oyster Fest took over Downtown Garner's Main Street and was a great success. Approximately 500 people attended in support of the senior scholarship trust and enjoyed food, socializing, and entertainment by DJ Phil Matthews.

The Garner Rotary Club awards around $10,000 in scholarships annually to local high school seniors. This specific fundraising event helped raise thousands of dollars.

"It was a great night out in Garner, and we were very pleased with everything from attendance to weather. We want to thank the people of Garner and surrounding areas for joining the Rotary Club in its ongoing support of education," says Jay Strickland, President of the Garner Rotary Club. "For those of you who did not make it to the Oyster Fest, we're already looking forward to the 6th annual event next year."
