RALEIGH, N.C. -

A Raleigh man was killed early Tuesday morning in a car accident while attempting to evade police.

According to the police wreck report, Calvin Bruce Moore was travelling east on E. Martin Street shortly before 3 a.m. at a high rate of speed attempting to evade police.

Moore lost control of his car and ran off the road near Merrywood Drive. Moore's car collided with a street sign then a large tree with the right side of his car. Police say he died as a result of the collision.

Raleigh Police spokesman, Jim Sughrue said the evasion mentioned in the report "did not involve a pursuit by the RPD."

According to the wreck report, alcohol was suspected as a factor in the collision.

More to the story is the fact that parts of the car were everywhere, including on top of the house of the yard it ended up in. Thank God the owner had not cut down the trees as planned, as she told people who helped remove debris the next day. The street sign became a weapon, tearing down a fence on the opposite side of the yard. All of this terrifying the occupants of the house which included a grandmother and two young girls who's windows were just in line with the disenegrating car that became a weapon. Not to mention the girls were in view of the dead man that was twisted in the wreckage. They are afraid in their own home now. This is a situation where a lot of people suffer and no one wins. It is such a terrible thing that his family and friends and the other family has to suffer through. It is a shame that prosecution and incarceration do not work to change the actions of others and we waste money locking them up instead of helping them.

Reguardless of what people say he was full of life and the sweetest, most lovable, and upbeat person that I could of ever known. He was my friend and he will be forevered missed. I can't still even believe that he is gone. But I know he is in a better place. He's was the type of person that was likeable, with the rememberable personality and a great smile that you will never forget. And he will never be forgotten.

Reguardless of the fact that is still a life lost worth more than money will ever buy or pay for. That was my uncle and we will miss him dearly!
