Durham Police say three suspects attempted to rob a Subway at 2405 Chapel Hill Boulevard on Sunday.
Three males wearing bandanas over their faces entered the Subway around 8:15 p.m., police say, and proceed to jump over the counter and point a gun at an employee, demanding money.
The suspects assaulted the employee and tried unsuccessfully to open the cash register.
Unable the open the register, the suspects ran out of the business and fled in a dark blue or black newer model Honda.
Police say the suspects were described as black males in their teens or early 20s wearing dark jackets with hoods, ball caps, gloves and bandanas.
