Raleigh, N.C.—Nov. 18, 2009 - This Thanksgiving weekend, Nov. 27 through 29, more than 100 craftsmen will display their creations at the 40th annual Carolina Designer Craftsmen Guild's (CDCG) Fine Craft + Design Show at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds Exposition Center. One of the longest running, highest quality juried craft shows of its kind, the CDCG's annual show is a compilation of premier hand-made items from the finest craftsmen across the Carolinas and Southeast.

This year marks a milestone with the 40th annual show for the Guild. Exhibiting members of the Guild display their hand-made crafts ranging from some of the finest works of glass, clay, wood, fiber, jewelry, metal, basketry, instruments, mixed media, works on paper and photography. For the first time, a special exhibit will showcase the best in fine craft and design from area high school students.

"The Show's longevity is evidence for its quality," says Lisa Oakley, glassblower, CDCG exhibitor and daughter of CDCG founding member, Sid Oakley. "This is an opportunity for the public to experience and purchase works from the region's most respected craftsmen. It offers the perfect venue for visitors to buy local goods and support local artists."

"The sense of community between the artists at this Show is remarkable," said Marina Bosetti, president of the CDCG board of directors. "All the exhibitors are brilliant in their medium with many members having collections in museums, corporate collections and recipients of prestigious arts awards. Plus, the passion for this organization is evident as the craftsmen and public continue to return year after year, now for four decades."

The Show offers something for every taste and budget. Show dates and times are as follows: Friday, Nov. 27 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 28 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 29 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Daily passes may be purchased at the door for $7 and children under twelve are admitted at no cost.
