This winter, three of Durham Parks and Recreation Centers will undergo renovations.
The following Recreation Centers will close Weaver Street (Friday, December 11); W.D. Hill (Saturday, December 19); Edison Johnson Recreation Center & Aquatics Center (Sunday, December 20). The much needed renovations will be funded by the November 2005 bond and will include making the facilities ADA compliant. Based on projections from the General Services Department, the centers are scheduled to re-open in June 2010.
The programs, activities and events held at the centers will be relocated to the following facilities:
- I. R. Holmes, Sr. Recreation Center at Campus Hills (2000 S. Alston Avenue)
- Center for Senior Life (406 Rigsbee Street)
- Holton Career and Resource Center (401 N. Driver Street)
- Priess Steele (500 Pickwick Trail)
