Throughout the day, Durham County Government has worked to restore power to offices affected by an early morning power outage. At about 1:30 p.m., power was restored to all county offices, including the Durham County Administrative Complex, the Judicial Building and the Department of Social Services.
The Judicial Building, 201 East Main Street, will remain closed for the day. The courts will reopen on Thursday with normal hours of operation.
The Durham County Department of Social Services (DSS) offices, located at 220 East Main Street and 300 North Duke Street, were both affected by the power outage. The Duke Street office resumed business at 1:30 p.m.
The DSS Call Center is not in operation at this time due to the power outage. To report child abuse and neglect or adult abuse and neglect, citizens are asked call 911 to reach an on-call social worker.
The power outage was caused by a tree that fell on a main power line servicing the offices. The outage occurred at 807 Trinity Avenue, which is east of Duke Street.
