A collaborative effort among local law enforcement agencies has nabbed several car break-in suspects.
The Fuquay-Varina and Holly Springs police departments have been working alongside the Wake County Sheriff's Office. So far, four groups of suspects have been charged.
Police arrested nine people and have identified another group. Police say they are expected to make more arrests.
However, officers are having trouble returning the property because not all crimes were reported.
"We never know which case is going to be the case we find the piece of evidence that will solve the case. So if someone doesn't report it, the fingerprint we need may be at that scene or an eye witness may have gotten a license number. So it's important for everyone to make sure they report it to law enforcement," said Fuquay-Varina Police Chief Larry Smith.
Police said they've seen a significant decrease in break-ins since the arrests.
